nz’s MOST LOVED TAKEAWAY COFFEE

Streetwise Coffee is a franchise company that operates designer built, takeaway coffee outlets across New Zealand. Streetwise Coffee specialise in street/highway coffee for people on the go and we sell on average 1.5 million coffees a year. That means Streetwise Franchisees serve thousands of loyal customers every day.

COFFEE & SERVICE IS WHAT WE DO

Quality coffee and service is the focus. Building the Streetwise Coffee business framework on this commitment is the cornerstone of its success. It has not only grown Streetwise’s reputation but also a discerning and loyal customer base. It is this framework, training and support that is passed onto new franchisees.

A PROFITABLE MODEL

Streetwise Coffee has proved hugely attractive as a business proposition, with 15 franchisees operating 24 locations around the country. Our carefully-designed carts offer a lower-investment entry point into the café business.

Pandemic resilient

Our takeaway status shielded us from closing during varying alert levels. This allowed our carts to continue to provide quality espresso coffee to our customers. All while being supported by Head Office to ensure our carts met all requirements to keep our staff and customers safe.

A smart model

Streetwise Coffee operate from fixed locations, ensuring regular business but, because the carts are relocatable, franchisees are less exposed to the whims of landlords and traffic flows. This philosophy works well as it helps maintain profitability and, unlike mobile vans, means no additional overheads such as fuel, rego or WOF.

Sharon & Mark McFadyen - Paraparaumu Kapiti RD

Sharon and Mark McFadyen are another duo who realised a franchise would guide them into their own business rather than their learning through costly mistakes.

‘By good fortune, our local Streetwise Coffee cart in Kapiti was up for sale,’ says Sharon. ‘Good friends have owned another outlet in Tawa for some years so we had plenty of inside information and advice. We did a lot of homework, had many meetings with our friends and the franchisors, then decided to put our savings into the business.’

Sharon took over the business in January 2018 and has already built up the business ‘very satisfactorily’ using her retail skills from previous jobs to engage customers under the cart’s built-in awning and the barista skills she learned during training from Streetwise. ‘Comparing figures with last year, we are clearly showing good growth,’ she says. ‘Frankly, the franchisors have been brilliant and I’m clear now I wouldn’t have been able to do it without their help and support. Yes, it was scary when I started because all those little details of business seemed to be a bit overwhelming but the Streetwise team stayed with me until I was comfortable.’
